If you didn't know, the USDA releases new guidelines every 5 years and these guidelines are used influence what the American people (2 years and older) are told to eat. They also serve as the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs.
The best part there is a section that is totally dedicated to the vegan/vegetarian adaptions of the guidelines. It seems as though a plant based diet is beginning to get the mainstream recognition that it deserves and an healthy alternative to the "All American" Diet.
